How a Warmer and a Dream Took Me to Hawaii

By

After moving out to the country, settling into newlywed life, and becoming a mom, I thought my party-planning days were over.

But then came the scent that changed everything:
Skinny Dippin’.

That scent showed up in a little warmer I ordered—or maybe won, I honestly don’t even remember. All I know is: the second I plugged it in, I was hooked.

I joined my friend Keela and jumped into selling Scentsy.

This time was different.
This time… we had Facebook.

I started posting. I was still doing in-home parties (because let’s be honest, there’s nothing better than a bunch of women smelling all the wax and laughing together in someone’s living room). But now I had more reach. More exposure. More opportunity.

I did vendor shows—big ones. I loaded my car and sometimes u-haul with inventory, tables, display signs, and prayed I wouldn’t forget my extension cords. I hustled. I showed up. I put in the work.

Did I always turn a profit?
Probably not. (Let’s be real—those booth fees and hotel stays add up fast.)

But I loved it.
I was in my zone.

I went to conferences and met some of the most incredible women. Women who inspired me, challenged me, and reminded me that success in this business wasn’t just possible—it was real.

I earned my first-ever trip—Banff, Canada. Then Hawaii. Then Punta Cana.

All because I said yes to a scent that made my home feel a little happier.

Eventually, I hit Director. Not the top—but a rank I was proud of. I had dreams of going further (Star Director, Superstar Director…), but I didn’t quite get there. Life happened again. Business ebbed and flowed.

But what I found in that season was worth gold:
✨ Confidence
✨ Community
✨ Vision

Scentsy showed me what was possible.
It showed me that I was capable of building something beautiful—something that could reward both my work and my heart.

I didn’t know it at the time, but I was laying the foundation for every business I would build after.
